Starting a business from home, what insurance is mandatory by law?

It’s a pc repair shop business from home. I’m a tenant and this is not my own house. What insurance cover is legally incumbent for me?

I wont have any employees at first. Also, does anyone have any general idea of how much they cost?

I’ve called up several companies, but they won’t really say what is legally binding, they want me to buy everything from them.

My son started his p.c. repair ,networking business from home and didn’t have any business insurance
Your home insurance should cover it as everything belongs to you anyway

The only insurance you might consider is Public Liability Insurance for any problems while you are on the premises or homes of customers

How can I start a home business if im 15?

Hi, i’m going to be 15 in 2 months.. i want a summer job.. I want to earn some extra money. What is a good job i can do? it’s easier if it’s from home but if it’s not it’s ok!! Please help me!! thanks xx (: x

Best reply by Andy:

If you are looking to make some extra money and you are having trouble getting some jobs at home then take a look at starting up a website of your own. What are you interested in? Start up a website around that topic. There are numerous places that will allow you to sell their wares online, such as commission junction, linkshare, and shareasale.

You need to create something that would be interesting enough to get people to come to your website and then you make money when they purchase other people’s products. You do not have to sell anything.

Does anybody know of a GENUINE work from home business?

I have been on Permitted Work through Mental Illness, although I have tried to get a Design/Online Print Business going I am struggling. What with being strapped for cash the only work I’ve got is for various Charities. Any ideas welcome although I should say with my condition I would not cope working in a mainstream Studio or Office. Regards, DaveyTom.

Have you tried the paid forums?
There are places on the net which you can join and they pay you(via Paypal) for expressing your opinion, whether it be a review for a product or just being a member of a discussion group to make up numbers.
A friend of mine made around $200 in a month(that’s the currency she told me she’d earned – I assume Paypal just converts it to stirling if need be). She’s retired, so it’s just additional income for her.

Have a search around on Google for paid forums. If you have no luck, message me via my avatar another day and I’ll see if I can find the actual site she sent me.
:)

can i have my own home based business yet still be employed by a company?

I would like to start my own home based business, but i am already employed, however i am on maternity leave. Can i have a home based business or will it affect my tax codes?

Best reply by Joseph:

Of course you can. Maternity leave, extended leave, sick leave, regular vacation, all have nothing to do with it. I operated a home based business for 10 years. After work and on Saturdays. Whenever I had free time. Has nothing to do with your regular employment. And taxes? All it does is increase your income taxes if you make a profit. And if you don’t make a profit, then you have a tax deduction. And remember, If you operate a legitimate home based business, a portion of your rent/mortage and a portion of your house bills and telephone bills are legitimate deductions at tax time. Not a big deal, but better to have the deduction than not to. Good Luck.
